Sonia Salari PhD FGSA is a family sociologist with expertise in family violence, aging, diversity and public policy. Known as an advocate for victims of IPV, child, & elder abuse, she examines fatalities across age grps. She has authored journal articles, chapters and two books: Family Violence Across the Life Course: Research, policy and prevention (2021 2nd Ed Kendall Hunt) and Family Violence and Abuse: An encyclopedia of trends, issues, and solutions, forthcoming 2022 (Bloomsbury)

SheDr. Melissa Cheng is an Associate Professor at the University of Utah (UofU). Shegraduated from the UofU School of Medicine in 2008. In 2003, she earned a Master ofHealth Science in International Health with an emphasis on complex humanitarianemergencies from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a Master ofOccupational Health from the UofU in 2010. Dr. Cheng is the founder and director of theUofU Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) training program, auniversal screening program for substance use disorder. Her research interests includeevaluating the effectiveness of opioid use within the workers compensation system, andshe has presented locally and nationally on "opioids in the workplace."Dr. Cheng is board-certified in addiction medicine and practices at the University of UtahHospital Addiction Consult Service. She is also the Clinical Medical Director for ComagineHealth where she works on various projects improving the quality and access to care foropioid use disorder. |
