22 Feb 2023 09:30AM - 03:30PM UGEC Caregiver Conference: Resources and Support for Caregivers Including Those Caring for Veterans & Persons with Dementia On Wednesday, February 22nd the Utah Geriatric Education Consortium (UGEC) is hosting a Caregiver Conference at the Dixie Convention Center in St. George, UT. This event is for caregivers to learn more about resources and services in the community. Members from the following organizations will be presenting: Five County Area Agency on Aging, the Utah Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, Utah Department of Health & Human Services Aging & Adult Services, and the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System. She began her career as a LTC Ombudsman first for Salt LakeCounty, and later for Davis County. In March of 2022, Alianne was promoted tothe State Long-Term Care Ombudsman. Originally from Arizona, she earned herundergraduate degree in child development from Brigham Young University(BYU). In 2021, Alianne completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) atUtah State University (USU). While working for Salt Lake County, she served as acommunity representative on the University of Utah's GerontologyInterdisciplinary Program's Advisory Committee. Alianne lives in Hooper, UT andenjoys spending time with her two black labs (Padfoot and Blackie) as well asher four young nieces and nephews. |

She graduated from the University of Utah Medical Center (UUMC) in 1983. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at Holy Cross Hospital with the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine (DFPM) at the University of Utah. She has been training young family medicine physicians since 1986. She started Family Medicine Residency Program in 1994 that is now based at St. Mark’s Hospital.She returned to Westminster College to complete her Masters of Public Health (MPH) in 2018. She studied ways to improve Advance Care Planning (ACP), so patients’ wishes can be followed at the end of life.Her husband is a retired physics professor and her 36 year-old son has his masters in music. She loves singing, hiking, swimming, skiing, bicycling, and spending time with her grandson. |
