Marianne Christensen is the Health Promotion Manager for Salt Lake County Aging & AdultServices, Active Aging Program. She graduated from Brigham Young University in CommunityHealth Education with a minor in Gerontology. Marianne has worked in many different capacitiespromoting health and exercise among older adults in the community. Most recently she was theHealthy Lifestyles Manager for Highland Cove Retirement Center and the Senior Center Manager atthe Magna-Kennecott Senior Center. Currently, Marianne oversees the implementation of evidence-based programming and other health promotion programs at the 15 Senior Centers in Salt LakeCounty. Lee Cherie Booth has worked as a nurse for 30 years. For the last 22 years, she has been with theSalt Lake County Health Department, including 10-years working with the Immunization Program.Lee Cherie helped manage the COVID Contact tracing efforts, along with COVID testing, and wasinstrumental to both the Health Department and the community. When the COVID vaccine wasmade available, she helped with recruiting, hiring, and training all 400+ vaccinators to helpadminister the vaccine in the community.

UGEC Fireside Chat - What is Old? You Might Be Surprised!
Anne Asman is the Program Manager for the Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic at theHuntsman Mental Health Institute at the University of Utah, and facilitatespresentations and trainings on caregiving, dementia, the aging brain, socialisolation and loneliness, and many other best-practice geriatric topics. Inaddition, she teaches courses on aging for Osher Lifelong Learning. Anne hasa Master of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Gerontology from theUniversity of Utah, a certificate in Dementia Education and Communicationfrom the University of Tasmania in Australia, the Utah Certificate of PalliativeCare Education, and the Dementia Assist Communications certification. Shehas also completed the Dealing with Dementia Training from the RosalynnCarter Institute of Caregiving. Anne is an outspoken advocate for quality careand quality of life for older adults with an emphasis on psychosocial issues.

Dr. Kathie Supiano is a Professor at the University of Utah (UofU) College of Nursing, andDr. Kathie Supiano is a Professor at the University of Utah (UofU) College of Nursing, andthe Director of Caring Connections: A Hope and Comfort in Grief Program. She attendedthe University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning a BS in Psychology, a Master’s Degree inChild and Family Studies (Human Development) and a Master’s Degree in Counselingand Guidance. Kathie earned a PhD from the UofU College of Social Work in 2012. Kathieis a PhD-prepared licensed clinical social worker and have been a practicingpsychotherapist in geriatrics, palliative care and grief therapy for over 40 years. Herclinical practice includes care of older adults with depression and multiple chronichealth concerns, end-of-life care, and bereavement care. In addition to counseling,Kathie has worked in the areas of elder abuse and neglect, geriatric care management,nursing home advocacy and smoking cessation. Prior to joining the faculty in 2007, sheserved as social worker to the UofU Hospital Palliative Care team.

Dr. Elizabeth Joy practices Family Medicine and Sports Medicine at the Salt Lake Clinic LiVeDr. Elizabeth Joy practices Family Medicine and Sports Medicine at the Salt Lake Clinic LiVeWell Center. She is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Utah School of Medicine inthe Department of Family and Preventive Medicine and the University of Utah College ofHealth Department of Nutrition & Integrative Physiology. Dr. Joy is a Past President of boththe American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and the Female Athlete Triad Coalition. Sheheld 2 terms of office on the Board of Trustees for the American Medical Society for SportsMedicine. She is on the Editorial Board for The Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine, and isAssociate Editor for Current Sports Medicine Reports. She serves as Chair of the Exercise IsMedicine Governance Committee for the ACSM, and co-chairs the EIM Clinical PracticeCommittee. In addition, she chairs the Healthcare Workgroup for the National Physical ActivityPlan Alliance. She developed and directed the Primary Care Sports Medicine FellowshipProgram at the University of Utah from 1998 until 2011. Her research and advocacy interestslie in the areas of physical activity assessment and promotion, the Female Athlete Triad, airquality and health, and diabetes prevention.
